About
About James Gedeon
James Gedeon began honing his craft in New York City’s legendary Greenwich Village music scene during the 1990s, performing in storied venues such as The Village Gate, The Back Fence, and The Red Lion. It wasn’t long before he became known as a singer and songwriter whose warmth and authenticity could make even those in the farthest corner of a room feel like they were right up front.
Notable Performances
James’s talent and stage presence have taken him to some of New York’s most iconic venues, including Le Cirque, The Rainbow Room at Rockefeller Center, and The Waldorf Astoria Grand Ballroom, where he performed as part of the opening band for Dan Aykroyd and The Blues Brothers at The Alzheimer’s Foundation Annual Fundraiser.
National & International Venues
His music has traveled well beyond New York. James has performed at The Smithsonian in Washington, D.C.; The Greenbrier Resort in West Virginia; Flathead Lake Lodge in Montana; Mauna Kea Resort in Hawaii; The Ocean Club on Paradise Island in the Bahamas; and even at The Royal Palace in Morocco.
He has also appeared at Pebble Beach Golf Club in California, opening for Jerry Seinfeld before an audience that included Clint Eastwood, and performing alongside New York’s acclaimed Stingers Band.
Celebrity Collaborations
As both a solo artist and collaborator, James has opened shows for America, The Marshall Tucker Band, Kenny Rogers, Jay Leno, Dana Carvey, and Livingston Taylor.
He has performed with renowned musicians including guitarists Oz Noy and Bernie Williams, drummers Dave Weckl and Steve Holley, and saxophonist Mark Rivera (Billy Joel, Ringo Starr, Foreigner). At a private event in Vermont, he also shared the stage with Harry Connick Jr.
Special Events
Among James’s most memorable performances was at the wedding of radio legend Howard Stern, where he performed three duets with Billy Joel. Later that evening, as part of the house band, he backed up Phoebe Snow and Pat Monahan of Train on their hits “Calling All Angels” and “Drops of Jupiter.”
Awards & Recognition
In 2016, James was named Winner of “Morristown OnStage” at the Mayo Performing Arts Center (MPAC) for his moving rendition of James Taylor’s “Shower the People.” That performance led to an invitation to open for the legendary band America at a sold-out MPAC show — where both the audience and the band offered high praise for his heartfelt delivery and musicianship.
Discography
James released his second studio album, My Saving Grace, in 2017. Its standout track, “Might As Well Be Me,” was nominated for Recording of the Year by the Tennessee Songwriters Association International (TSAI). He was also a featured songwriter at the Smoky Mountains Songwriters Festival in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
His third album, A Lucky Man, followed in 2019, continuing his tradition of introspective songwriting and soulful performance.
Recent Years
When the world paused in 2020, James found new ways to connect — offering weekly live-stream performances that brought the intimacy of live music into listeners’ homes. The period also inspired a fresh wave of songwriting, with new releases planned for 2026.
Today, in addition to his solo work, James tours nationally with “Three American Troubadors: A Celebration of Taylor, Simon, King” honoring the timeless music of James Taylor, Carly Simon, and Carole King.
Three decades after his first gigs in Greenwich Village, James Gedeon continues to perform with the same passion, sincerity, and spirit that have defined his journey from the very beginning — creating moments of connection through music that feels both familiar and profoundly his own.
